Obaatan Awaamu Bead
Obaatan Awaamu refers to the Akan proverb “a good mother doesn´t know a bad child” or “a good mother knows what her children will eat”, meaning that a child that receives love and care can only be successful, as there are no bad children. Only children who don’t receive care will fail. This symbol, which is for women only, represents maternal love, care, tenderness, compassion, empathy and consolation.
The Adinkra beads are made of 18k gold over sterling silver.
Each bead has a different meaning. They can be mixed and matched to create a unique message for yourself or for your loved ones.
